When it comes to nails, I can get pretty lazy. I usually stick to the same unadventurous color for months. To make matters worse, I’ll probably have layers upon layers of that boring color on my nails because I’m too lazy to take out the good ol’ nail polish remover and start fresh. I’m sure all the nail fanatics out there are cringing right now. But come on, there is something so satisfying about peeling the thick layers from your nail in one piece. Oh, also I can’t create those cute and fun designs either. That whole skill part needed to create fun designs, yeah well I don’t have it. This girl can’t even do a polka-dot on her nail to save her life. I would see all these creative and “easy” nail art ideas on Pinterest, but when I would attempt to recreate them I would fail every time. But you know what? I was sick of it. I finally said to myself, Lauren, you will learn how to draw a decent polka-dot or stripe, even if it kills you. Well, with lots of practice I finally recreated a nail art design worthy of being showcased.

This design is super easy and simplistic, but creates a lot of of impact at the same time! Here’s how to recreate this super easy nail art design:

What you will need:

  • Essie’s ‘chinchilly’ (a beautiful muted purpley gray)
  • Essie’s ‘blanc’ (a classic white)
  • Essie’s ‘matte about you’ topcoat

 How to:

  • Step one: Apply two coats of Essie’s ‘chinchilly’ and let dry completely.
  • Step two: Using tape or a striping brush create a line starting from about halfway down the side of your nail to the middle of the top of your nail using Essie’s ‘blanc.’
  • Step three: Fill the upper corner of the nail with the white polish and let dry completely.
  • Step four: Finish your nail design with Essie’s ‘matte about you’ topcoat.
  • Step five: Go rock your new nail design!

Have fun recreating this design! Mix other colors or try adding metallics! The possibilities are limitless!

much love.
